Panel Questions: Performance Tools and Their Interfaces
- What types of performance problems do you want tools to measure and diagnose?
- What abstractions should a performance tool use to display its information in to be most effective for users?
- Where do you see the possibilities and chances for automatic tuning vs. displaying information and having the user do the tuning him/herself?
- What interfaces or types of interfaces should we and can we expose in the software stack? What is the right tradeoff between generality and getting programming model or OS specific data?
